Supporting Highland Children in Kon Tum: The TBES Community Program
Published

Since October 2023, TBES has supported ethnic minority children cared for by the Sisters at Ling La Parish in Đắk Pxi, Kon Tum. The program covers monthly meal contributions, gifts at Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year and, most recently, school uniforms and supplies.
How the program started
What began as small gifts sent to the highlands during festive seasons became a long-term monthly commitment in October 2023. Many of the children there have lost their parents and live in difficult conditions.
With limited resources, the Sisters teach the children literacy as well as values, etiquette and life skills, and keep their living and learning spaces clean and well organised.

Monthly meals and festive gifts
Since October 2023, TBES has made a monthly contribution to the children’s meals, helping provide fuller and more nutritious food. At Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year, the children also receive gifts.

A letter from the Congregation
TBES received a letter of thanks from the Congregation of the Lovers of the Holy Cross of Thủ Thiêm, which runs the program at Ling La:
“Your support has helped improve the children’s nutrition and learning conditions and brought hope into their lives. With this encouragement, we believe these children will continue striving forward.”
Sr. M. Theresia Nguyễn Thị Kim Dung, Head of the Social Charity Department
School uniforms and supplies
On our latest trip to the highlands, the TBES team delivered new school uniforms and school kits. For these children, a uniform means belonging and the confidence to go to school alongside their classmates.

The program continues
The monthly support continues, and TBES will keep sharing the program with partners and friends who wish to take part.
